New Blog.

I have gotten myself an Edublog now. My edublog will be used to write about my experiences about College.. I will still keep my learnerblog, but just remember that I won’t reply to any comments left on this blog.. My new Edublog is called ‘Experience on College’. I will be awaiting your comments on my edublog

2008

Fifth week into high school and I’m loving it.. I am apart of the Year 9 Accelerant class and our form teacher’s name is Mrs Kravchenko.. College is way different than Intermediate because we have a lot of different teachers.. Our form teacher would be just like a teacher at intermediate.. They take the roll and say the notices.. And then we go off to First Period. Now, College is divided into 5 periods, this does not include form class or interval and lunchtime. And the teachers have teacher codes.. for example, my form teacher, Mrs Kravchenko, her teacher code is KO..

Anyway, we have 5 different subjects everyday. These subjects could be Science, Maths, English, Option, Social Studies, PE.. Except on Wednesday Period 4, which is form time. Form time is either a free period which can be used for homework. Sometimes we have House Meetings or Assemblies. Unfortunately, I do not do Homework during Form time, Because that is when Junior Forum is on.. And after I have Junior Jazz so that is Period 4 Wednesday for me!

Oh, Junior Forum is a group of class representatives from all Year 9 and 10 classes. I am class representative from 9KO and that means that I represent 9KO and present ideas from 9KO to the Junior Forum. I am also the Junior Forum representative to the Student Council. The Student Council is made up of the following: Junior Forum Representative, Senior Forum Representative, Head Students, Senior Management (Principal, Deputy Principals). I think..

College is going great so far and I hope that it will stay that way. I can’t wait for all of you intermediate boys and girls to come and enjoy this experience with me.. I also hope that some of you will be in the Junior Forum as well.

Life Ed Speech

On Thursday the 8th of November. Taegan and I went to the Bruce Spurdle Real Estate Building in Cambridge. We went there because we had to say a speech reflecting our time during Life Ed. It was Life Education’s fifth birthday being in the Waipa/King Country Area. Me and Taegan enjoyed ourselves even though we were a little bit nervous. Below shows the speech that we wrote.

Good Evening and welcome to the sponsors night here at Bruce Spurdles Real Estate in Cambridge. My name is Jayden and here beside me is Taegan. Now we were asked to come here by Life Ed’s very own, Nicky Wise. We are here to basically talk about our time in Life Education. As you may have known, the programme that we were doing was called ‘Warrant of Fitness’ This programme is about keeping our bodies safe. We acted as though our bodies were cars and how we could look after them. We did have fun at Life Ed learning a lot of things throughout our time in the Mobile Classroom.

Life Ed was an amazing experience for our whole class and school. We have learnt valuable life lessons that we will take away with us and always remember.

So many things added to the enjoyment of life ed. The mobile classroom excited all of us and we were keen and up for a new way of learning. And at no age are you too old to blow the lights out. Becoming interactive with our learning made us a lot more eager to participate in whatever the next lesson had brought us. We were always given challenges throughout the lessons, which we would need to do to keep our bodies as healthy and as safe as possible.

Being in the Life Ed classroom has taught me a lot of things. The walls are just covered in everything and anything! (that we need to know about life of course, its not like they put any old random thing on the wall!) As I was saying, Life Ed has taught me three important things and these three things should be remembered throughout the country. 1. Always be true to yourself. 2. Never let someone get you down. 3. That I am a unique and special person and nobody is going to tell me different.

We were taught the dangers of drugs, and how they can so negatively ruin your life. The videos we watched were alarming, and will stay etched in the back of our heads for a long time, the children that have suffered and the longing we feel not to join them. An important thing we remembered was to delay our decisions when growing up, and when faced with tough choices, it is okay to step back, and wait until we were ready to make them.

We were also taught the likeness between our bodies, and cars, and that our bodies, were needing of the right fuel, or nutrition to keep them running. Our bodies need a Warrant of Fitness, and some of the key things to remember in life, were our Appetite, Attitude, and Activity. We got taught some vital things to keep ourselves healthy. What to look at when we were shopping for groceries Treat are A Okay but only every so often.

When I first saw the Mobile Classroom which was way back when I was about 7 years old. I saw the one of a kind Mobile Classroom and thought to myself, It’s not like I’m going to learn anything in here. It’s just like my regular classroom except smaller! I keep thinking about that until I walked into the classroom! And at that point I was amazed that you can actually learn something. But that was when I was seven and now I am twelve but I still get those thoughts running through my mind time after time. It brings back good times from childhood.

Well, one of the most important things about classrooms. Are teachers. I would like to call them the ‘Inspiration’ towards our learning. Life Education has the most inspiring, energetic, enthusiastic and thoughtful educators throughout the Waipa/King Country Area. Nicky Wise is a very thoughtful person and is very inspirational during her lessons.

Another group of people we would like to thank, are the sponsors for Life Education. Without you people we wouldn’t of had the opportunity to be a part of Life Ed and the educators might not of had a job. But this has not happened thanks to your help. This is why we are having this little get together to acknowledge well you of course. And again, a big thank you to you guys for being able to make it here tonight.

And last but not least, teaching us to love our bodies. We’ve been taught that not one of us is the same, and all of us are unique and exceptional. We need to be kind to each other and always keep on smiling. Our brain and our body are totally amazing, and we have a lot to thank them for.

An entirely new sensation

Then began a time of tunes and melodies, noisy sounds and peaceful harmonies, jazzy brass music and classical string music, merged together to create a band. Hip-hop, blues, reggae and rock. An entirely new sensation called music.

Brass Band Performance

Last night (Thursday 25th October) The Te Awamutu Auxiliary Band was asked to perform in Te Kuiti. The Te Awamutu Senior Brass Band was performing there as well. We were invited by Te Kuiti High School who was the opening act but they had their Concert Band playing. The difference between a brass band and a concert band is that brass bands basically feature brass instruments (cornets, euphoniums, trombone etc.) The trumpet is a brass instrument but isn’t an instrument played in basically any brass band. Instead of trumpets, cornets are used in brass bands. They are smaller versions of trumpets. So Hamish and I were a part of the Auxiliary band and were excited to be performing. So we were all packed up at 6pm and left from Te Awamutu. The auxiliary band’s conductor, left his briefcase back in Te Awamutu but remembered it before he left the parking lot. We arrived in Te Kuiti at about 7pm and started to unpack. The Te Kuiti High School Concert band went first and played brilliantly. We were up next and we were a bit nervous. The pieces we played were Giggleswick Scar, Singing in the Rain, Buddy and the Simpsons. After we finished playing, we were able to relax and listen to the Senior Band who played spectacular. After the Senior band, we packed up out equipment and arrived back in Te Awamutu at 10pm. It was a very intense experience playing a variety of pieces in front of an audience. Hamish and I really enjoyed ourselves and had a great time.

Grandparents Concert

Recently, Te Awamutu Intermediate had their annual Grandparents Concert. At 12:00 noon, we started seeing grandparents parking up even though the concert started at 1:00. But there isn’t anything wrong with people coming early! Anyway, my grandmother arrived at 12:00 noon and I was looking around for her to show her around the school. She was very excited to be there and was proud of the achievements I had made. It was quarter to one and I took my grandmother to the hall so I could  tune my instrument because the school band was playing and I was a part of it. I was also playing a solo, it was called ‘Vega’ by Vander Cook. When I walked into the hall, I was happy to see a lot of grandmothers and grandfathers who took away their own time to see their grandchildren. After the concert, the children with grandparents had afternoon tea. My grandmother and I had a bite to eat and then she took me home. I was very happy that my grandmother came and she really had a great time and she enjoyed it!

Life Education

For the first few weeks of this term, we have had Life Education lessons with a experienced teacher and an experienced giraffe. We had been taught how our body works, and how to take care of it. It was very enjoyable and definitely educational. I really enjoyed the creativity and the humor put into the lessons we’ve had. Unfortunately, my classroom has finished our lessons in Life Ed and are going to miss it. In a few weeks time, Taegan and I will be doing a speech to the sponsors of Life Ed and we are both looking forward to it.

Art

During the end of last term and the beginning of this term. My classroom has been painting pictures based on Beryl Cook’s style of painting. I decided to do this

dsc03820.JPG And this is my finished product. Because this week is Grandparents week at my school, my teacher said that we could do a sketch of and elderly person. It was quite hard to do. Below shows the photo I used to sketch and what I drew from the photo.

2007

2007 - The year of a lifetime. This year I was introduced to new things. New classmates, new technology and new opportunities. But I didn’t forget the old things I met last year. Same teachers, same school, same old routines and same old peers. But that was the old things, the past. Now a new year has a risen and it has been fun. A few highlights up to this very day has been the following. I am currently a house captain for one of the school houses, I am the lead trumpetist for the school senior symphonic band and jazz band. Now it is nearing the end of 2007 and I still have a lot of things to look forward to, and then I will have completed my year of a lifetime!
